What is ekolibrium, ecological foundation?

1) A foundation created by science and non-science.

1) A foundation created by science and non-science.

Ekolibrium is a foundation based at 54 Boerhaavelaan, 2334 ES Leiden, The Netherlands. The purposes for which this corporation, a nonprofit charitable organization, is formed are:

1. To encourage and gather ecological research through a web-based application, as follows:

a. Centralize global ecological research activities and information to the level of results obtained by professionals and the public.

b. Create a platform for dynamic interaction by linking members between eachother through their areas of interest or topics.

c. Create a platform where researchers can publish their data online and share their results with others.

d. Make all of the above accessible to the educational, research, and public sectors in an easy and structured manner.

2. In addition to point 1.c above, to organize networks concerning donations.

a. By giving donors or investors the option to interact.

Users can choose to donate either specifically to entities of their choice, including ekolibrium, or/and give Ekolibrium the liberty of choice. In the future, ekolibrium wishes to to make investments more accessible to the general public in order to stimulate ecological projects around the world, no matter how small they are.

b. Create a platform for dynamic interaction between donors and receivers of financial aid, be it for research or for commercial activities.

c. Create a platform for the stimulation of sustainable entrepreneurship.

3. Encourage trustworthy behaviour by informing the public of ekolibrium, its choices and its activities in complete transparency.

2) A search engine

Ekolibrium offers to every subscriber the same advantages: The opportunity to fill a portfolio in which all the following information are going to be open to both public and other subscribers. The search engine allows easy and fast comparisons between portfolios. This is carried out in several ways. Before hitting the search key, the user can choose the type of entities and folders within which he would like the search to be made. He can then enter keywords which will be highlighted in the search results, and sorted by the user’s preferences.

e. The failures (or unexpected results)

f. The vacancies

g. The projects

i. The publications/articles

…And the opportunity to be pinned in the Google earth program.

This last option has a very big visual impact. A different pin-colour for every following entity. Obviously, the colors can be changed along the time before choosing the definitive panel.

e. Hobbyist – Purple

f. Eco-resort and hotel – Black

g. Eco-community – Orange

h. Industry (Production, equipment, engineering) – Turquoise

This system will provide a visual impact of the type of research or ecological interest accumulated or lacking in different parts of the world also easy and fast to make any kind of statistics in the field of ecology.

Because ekolibrium thinks about everyone as a unity, we decided to incorporate all “widgets” that will help people who want to help other people in their way.

a. The search engine will provide a system of randomness which will increase the chance for every subscribed entity to be discovered for the work they do.

b. The less visited entities will be shown as first lines with a simple clic.

c. The possibilities to be contacted each time an interesting new entity subscribes.

Obviously, there still are numerous interesting actions we are going to implement in order to help and to be helped. For this reason, we need your input because ekolibrium is a world wide project made of the information from people interested in ecological science.

Please go to the appropriate section such as “ekolibrium Function”, “ ekolibirum Information”, and “ekolibrium Logo and Design” in order to leave your fire-brand on the biggest ecological project world wide. When your ideas will be used to develop the website, you will be listed as an E.A.G.E.R. project co-founder!

3) An ecological library

a. Information.

How could me know anything without information and references?

Do you really think that the way our world is working today is because we keep our secrets? If we imagine that the human being is only at the beginning of his existence and evolution, it is normal that we still make some “mistakes” (and still are going to) and we have to share them in order to learn from them. For this reason, ekolibrium Website, in the Articles section, will have a “failure” subsection.

For the first time, people are going to find and publish what experience doesn’t work and other failures.

But also a very interesting source of information that is inaccessible on the net:

b. The poster.

Everyone in science has to make posters. This is a great and fast way to give quick information about a project.

c. The magic of subsections.

Once again, for the first time, the choice of subsections for a specific article will be available in the portfolio. Are you looking for some abstracts and conclusions written in a specific field, in a specific country or region, by a specific group? Please, go to find them in ekolibrium. (open source journals)

d. Peer to peer

Obviously, excepting if you really want to share your breakthrough before this one has been officialy corrected and published, you will not publish your current work in your profile. However, if you want to publish your third time rejected article about a revolutionary way to transform sand in water, ekolibrium will offer to publish it on the open-source publications section, and also offer a Peer to Peer download system. Because information should be free.

4) A source of investment

Money.

Investments existed way before money did. It can be a personal invesment in order to set up projects as: Create a family, help people or set a company to get benefits out of it. However, we shouldn’t have a bad opinion about the word “interest”. According to some theories and beliefs, everything we are doing is done by interest. Which interest? Our survival. Don’t you think? And it seems that we are able to do incredible things in order to keep us alive. Anyway, we will not open a debate based on this subject in these lines. However, ekolibrium is a huge source of interest and money is one of them. Can you imagine the potential of an ecological search engine coupled to an elaborate investment system? Everyone registred in the ekolibrium foundation could be seen and noticed through the search engine.
